Principal Product Designer
What you'll do
Principal Product Designer
About the role
At HubSpot, we’re building the next generation of AI-powered tools to help businesses grow better.
We’re hiring a Principal Product Designer to lead design for our end-to-end prospecting experience. This role will connect outbound prospecting, inbound AI qualification, and marketing-driven demand into a cohesive system across marketing, sales, and service products. While you’ll report into the Sales Hub team, you’ll partner deeply with multiple hub teams to build a cohesive experience. Once you solve this problem space, you'll proactively identify where you should focus your energy next.
This is a highly strategic, high-impact role. You’ll work across teams, influence product direction, and help define how modern prospecting should work in an AI-first world.
Why this role matters
Prospecting is evolving quickly. Businesses are moving from manual workflows to intelligent, AI-driven systems that help them find, engage, and convert customers more effectively.
Today, these experiences are often fragmented. Tomorrow, they’ll be connected, adaptive, and far more powerful.
You’ll help define that future at HubSpot.
What you’ll do
Design systems, not just screens
• Bring clarity to complex, multi-product workflows across HubSpot’s sales, service and marketing tools with future experiences spanning our full product suite
• Connect agentic outbound prospecting, inbound AI lead qualification, and demand generation into a unified experience
• Simplify complexity while preserving the nuance of the underlying systems
Shape product direction
• Define and communicate a clear, forward-looking vision for prospecting at HubSpot
• Partner with product, engineering, and design leadership to align on direction
• Challenge assumptions and introduce new ways of thinking about how go-to-market teams work
Lead through influence
• Work across multiple teams and disciplines to drive alignment
• Partner with and guide a group of senior designers
• Build shared understanding across teams with different goals and priorities
Design for AI-powered experiences
• Explore and define interaction patterns for agent-based workflows
• Bring a point of view on how AI changes user behavior and expectations
• Help shape how work flows between tools, agents, and systems of record
Design within real-world constraints
• Credit usage and cost predictability
• Data accuracy and availability
• Privacy and legal considerations
• Customer expectations for automation and control
What we’re looking for
Strong systems thinking
• Experience designing across multiple products or complex workflows
• Ability to connect fragmented experiences into a cohesive whole
• Background working on large, established products with meaningful surface area
• Experience working across platforms or ecosystems
• We're NOT looking for someone with specific experience designing prospecting tools - bring your expertise, we'll teach you about ours.
Interaction design expertise
• Skilled at turning complex systems into intuitive, usable experiences
• Thoughtful about different user roles (e.g., admins vs. end users) and their needs
Clear communicator and storyteller
• Able to articulate ideas and influence direction across teams
• Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders at the VP+ level
• Brings a strong point of view and can align others around it
Cross-functional leadership
• Experience working across teams and navigating ambiguity
• Ability to build alignment and drive progress without direct authority
Thoughtful about AI
• Interest in and perspective on designing AI-powered or agent-based experiences
• Comfortable working in an evolving space where patterns are still emerging
What you don’t need
• Deep domain expertise in sales, marketing, or CRM
• A specialization in visual design beyond leveraging existing systems
The team
You’ll report to the Sr. Director of Product Design for Sales Hub and work closely with senior and staff-level designers across teams. You’ll partner with product and engineering leaders across multiple hubs and play a key role in shaping how these teams work together.
